Matariki
The Māori new year once again is upon us. Traditionally a time to celebrate the harvest and to prepare for planting. However today it is about promoting and nurturing Māori knowledge through cultural experiences that excites, engages and educates. That of which cultivates projects/programmes that provide opportunities for communities to connect, contribute and participate within a nurturing environment.
Also, on a personal note it’s a great time to remember those loved ones whom have passed on and to celebrate their foot print of time, their history stored in ones book of hearts - And to reflect upon the outgoing year to enhance one’s preparation for the new incoming year, wherein one can confidently say, “Tihei mauri-ora, this is going to be a great year for me and my whanau.”
